The week of David and me
Kind of a running post on what we did, what I learned, what it all meant and what we did. It was a lot of fun having David visit from Hanoi. We spent a number of days over coffees, some food and beer, and one meal at our house. Each thing seemed to teach me something new and reinforce some things which became somewhat visible earlier. I won’t try to list out each day but instead talk about the things we did over all.
eating and coffee
Food always plays a central role in Cambodia. David loves eating wherever he goes so here he was out playing with different street food choices and western food. From beef stew to burgers. We also met for breakfasts and coffee. We talked a great deal after some years of only chatting occasionally on WhatsApp. There were some things which were just disappointing here which I took some time to think on. Walking usually gives me some view on things so I ended up walking longer each day, just thinking on what I saw, felt, and perhaps got either wrong or right. I could not understand why my wife would not wish to be more hospitable and welcoming to the only person ever to visit our house that I invited.
Then I walked and ended up going out on some road I had not done. Wonderful! Went back to the heritage walk mall and felt pleasantly tired after coffee at Pro Coffee. An interesting place I doubt I will find my way to again.
Today finale
David leaves later today for Hanoi. We ended up seeing each other more often than what I thought. He loves Siem Reap so he’ll come back again he says. We will meet this morning for breakfast at Temple Coffee downtown. Then he will go work at the hotel and prepare to leave later for Vietnam.
More when there’s more.
Pancakes for breakfast. Our last meal and then David goes back. Been a nice time the last week. Writing has become this thing again. To kind of look at my life things. Blog them a bit. That’s kinda life. An acquaintance does YouTube videos to be able to put himself out there. For me, these words always feel like the real thing. Blogging has turned many corners since I started. Figure about 1998. Now I want to find my singular voice. To then share it with really no one. It’s enough to just do the writing to me.
Adding complex apps does nothing if I cannot get the words out there. See you when another day brings out something or I remember something else.
